Coconut Porter

I may not get to Hawaii this year, but at least I got a taste of it. Two tastes to be exact.

S.L., a friend who lives in another city, heard about my project and wanted to help me out (a lot of my friends seem to feel that way, bless them). She told me about her camping vacation on the Big Island earlier this year and the great beer she had enjoyed there. Needless to say, I grew extremely jealous.

The next time we met, S. asked me about my progress on the project. I said "oh, I'm up to 15 or so now" and she whipped out a temptingly bulgy paper bag and wrote "#16 & 17" on it with a flourish.

So it was that I discovered Maui Brewing Company's Bikini Blonde and Coconut Porter. Possibly the only porter "brewed with hand-toasted coconut".

Thanks S. I'm still jealous.
